A chartered tax Accountant refers to the individual who has reached the apex of the professional ladder of the Certified International Tax Accountants-UK. The individual is accorded “Chartered or Certified” status to signify successful completion of all examinations and approved by the council.

Its registeredd office is in England and Wales, specifically West Yorkshire. Pathway to Certified International Tax Accountants Status
THE LEGAL STATUS OF CERTIFIED INTERNATIONAL TAX ACCOUNTANTS - UK.

The certified International Tax Accountants (CITA) - UK was incorporated under the Companies Act 2006 in the United Kingdom; Reg. reference no: 9720353. Its registered office is in England and Wales, specifically West Yorkshire.

MISSION AND VISION:
The Certified International Tax Accountants - UK has a onerous objective of providing parallel education in the disciplines of local and international tax accounting to enhance graduate employment and to prepare students for membership and membership of other professional bodies Particularly ACCA student members qualify as Chartered Tax Accountant.

TAX ACCOUNTANT AS A PROFESSION: The profession combines both Tax and Accounting in that graduates could be engaged as accountant or tax expert. Tax accounting is a discipline in accounting but the core is Taxation. A Tax Accountant utilises the tax laws of a country to prepare tax assessments and tax examination. Qualified tax accountants command higher remuneration than ordinary accountants and could set up their own consultancy firms after qualification.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES: Qualified tax accountants could work in the following sectors as accountants, tax accountants, auditors, financial analyst, consultants etc:
1.       Accounting
2.       Tax office
3.       Tax Auditing

ENTRY QUALIFICATION: Applicants with the following background could be admitted to any of the levels
I.       Qualified and part qualified Accountants
II.       Degree in Accounting or any discipline
III.       CITA Ghana, CITA Cameroon, CITA Benin, CITA Nigeria etc. students.
IV.      Degree in Business and Commerce
V.       MBA in Finance or Accounting
VI.       Part qualified Accountants
VII.      Tax officials
VIII.      DBS with experience
IX.       HND graduates
X.       All tertiary qualifications

CITA I (Entry Requirements)
1.1st degree in any discipline
2.HND, DBS, Accounting technicians of other professional bodies, etc.

CITA II
Applicants with the following background with at least 6yrs experience may be eligible for some exemptions:
i.First Degree, Masters, MPhil in Accounting, Tax or Commerce
ii.Part Qualified Accountants
iii.Non Accounting Graduates with Accounting experience
iv.Other Student Members of Accounting & Tax professional bodies.

CITA III
Applicants with the following background may be eligible:
i.1st degree in accounting, tax or commerce with experience
ii.Fully and Part qualified accountants with considerable work experience
iii.MBA / MPhil / MSc. Accounting / Tax with work experience
iv.BA, BSc. Accounting, Tax or commerce with work experience

PROFESSIONAL LEVEL

i.ICA qualified with work experience
ii.ACCA qualified or CIMA with work experience
iii.Chief Insp. of Taxes & above with accounting or tax background
iv.Post graduate certificate in Practical Accountancy and taxation graduates

Certificate in Practical Accountancy and Taxation.
vi.MBA / MSc., MPhil Accountancy / Finance / Tax Graduates.
GRADUATION: Graduation is normally held at the British Council of the respective countries or in the UK. In the event of UK graduation, students are advised to apply for their visa at least four months in advance. Students would receive their appropriate letters for visa application.
EXAMINATION: Examinations are conducted bi - annually at the various British Councils. Students could only sit for their examination after full payment of fees. All examination study materials including sample questions are sent to students before the examination date including all the appropriate examination guidelines.
